Other

Sofia has had the pleasure of serving in several capacities beyond directing and teaching. For more about her work in other theatrical roles and outside of her usual fields, see below.

Theatre Management and Producing

Artistic Direction: For 3 years, Sofia served as the Associate Artistic Director for (now closed) Collective Unconsious Performance under David Hanzal's leadership. In her role, Sofia revitalized the company's social media presence, created a new system for box office management and ticketing, and wrote the company's Handbook and DEI commitment. She also assisted David in the dramaturgy and direction for 5 of the company's productions.

Producing: Sofia co-produced a new play in the Minnesota Fringe Festival as well as staged readings of new plays.

Stage Management: Sofia has been a stage manager or assistant stage manger on several productions. She was the SM for Shakespearean Youth Theatre's 2017 production of Romeo and Juliet. In 2015, she was the production intern for Ten Thousand Things and Frank Theatre.

House and Box Office Management: Sofia has worked as a Box Office and House Manager for Walking Shadow and Mixed Blood Theatre in Minneapolis. At Mixed Blood, Sofia assisted patrons through the innovative Radical Hospitality Program and pre-show programs for audience members with access needs.

Performer

Sofia has trained as an actor, dancer, singer, and mover for over 15 years. When she shifted focus to directing and teaching, she took a seven-year hiatus from the stage. Education work lead her to The Bakken Museum in Minneapolis, where she performed Science-Live shows and demonstrations. Performing for students reminded her why she loves telling stories. Sofia made the decision to return to acting in February 2020, because she has always had exceptional comedic timing. She is looking forward to ending her extended hiatus from the stage.
